R.I.P. Alan Rickman. I’m not a Harry Potter fan, but Rickman had a long list of accomplishments, the role of Snape being only one. I admit that one of my favorite roles of his was as Alexander Dane in Galaxy Quest. I just love that movie. He was a spectacular actor. Such a tragic loss.
There is no road to perfection, but there is one to betterment. Becoming a better person means looking inside yourself, embracing your flaws, but also working hard to improve those things you don’t like about yourself. Changing oneself is a terrifying task, but the ability to do so adds strength and character.
Depression never ends, for there is no cure. It is a life-long battle. Tragically, far too many people ended their lives too soon because they could not take the agonizing pain. I’ve been there. I’ve felt that pain and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. We are all strong and we are all deserving of the best life we can live. Be kind, be generous, be loving.
If you suffer from depression, you know all too well the crippling hopelessness that comes with it. Learning to overcome the desolation of mental illness is one of the greatest challenges of life. The battle never ends, but you can learn to heal. Writing is one of my therapeutic methods of coping with this devastating illness.
Only you can make yourself happy. Embrace your flaws, for they are what make you human.
