Life of A Parent

Parenthood is the most stressful stage of life I’ve ever experienced

No one can invoke the paralyzing fear

The impotent rage

Or the heart-bursting, all consuming love

In quite the way our children can

Yet parenthood is also the most fulfilling stage of my life

I may have more gray hairs than I care to count

But I wouldn’t have it any other way

Ode to Motherhood

Little fingers, tiny toes

Guileless eyes, a button nose

You are but my heart and soul

The depth of my love, you’ll never know

This bond we share, I’ll forever cherish

Until the day my body does perish

You are my child, my love, my strife

I will carry you always,

Every day of my life

Fourteen years ago today, I gave birth to my son. He was a happy, healthy baby. Along with his sister, he’s been my joy since the day he was born.

It’s been a long and difficult road since his Autism diagnosis at the age of two and a half, but I wouldn’t trade him for the world. Happy birthday to my sweet, beautiful Vaughn. May this year bring you every ounce of happiness and opportunity you deserve. I love you to the moon and back!
